Gravel Driveways & Lot Surfacing in Cape Coral & Florida Gulf Coast
Gravel, crushed shell, and limerock driveways, parking pads, and gravel lot surfacing — built on a proper compacted base and graded to drain, not just dumped and spread.

A gravel driveway or surfaced lot is the affordable, fast-draining alternative to concrete or asphalt — common across rural Florida Gulf Coast, acreage homesites, equipment and RV pads, agricultural lots, and commercial yards. We install new gravel, crushed shell, and limerock driveways; parking, equipment, and RV pads; and full gravel lot surfacing — plus resurfacing and regrading of existing gravel that's rutted, potholed, or washed out.
What separates a driveway that lasts from one that turns to mud is everything underneath it: proper sub-base, the right material, real compaction, and drainage. We work in crushed limerock (the Florida Gulf Coast workhorse base), crushed shell, #57 stone, and crushed concrete or millings — picked to the use, not the truckload that's cheapest that week.
Florida Gulf Coast specifics: sandy native subgrade usually needs geotextile fabric and proper compaction so the gravel doesn't sink or migrate into the sand. Flat ground plus heavy rain means the surface has to be crowned and graded to drain — or it ruts and potholes within a season. We build that in.
One company. The whole job.
- Teardown
- Cleared
- Excavated
- Graded
- Finished Grade
Because we already run the clearing, excavation, and grading, the driveway or lot surface goes on a base we built right — with drainage and finished grade worked in — instead of being a separate contractor's layer dumped over soft, unprepped ground.
What a gravel driveway actually costs.
No surprise charges — a firm, itemized price before any work begins.
Price drivers are area (square footage), base depth, material choice (limerock vs. crushed shell vs. #57 stone vs. crushed concrete/millings), grading and compaction, edging and containment, and whether geotextile fabric is needed under the base. A typical residential driveway commonly lands in roughly the $2,000–$6,000 range, with larger lots, deeper base, fabric, or added drainage pushing higher. Material-only "dump and spread" jobs are cheaper but fail fast because they skip the base, the fabric, and the drainage. Call Brookins for a free, on-site estimate — we'll walk it, list it, price it.

What's in a real Brookins quote.
The trade's biggest trust problem is the lowball quote that turns into three change orders. We bid the actual scope, in writing, the first time.
Firm, itemized scope
Every line item written out — what's in, what's not, and how much. No vague 'site work' lump sum.
Conditions explained up front
Soil, slab, permits, gopher tortoise — anything that can move the price is flagged before the contract, not on day three.
No surprise change orders
If something genuinely changes once we're on site, we tell you, price it, and you decide. No mid-job invoices for work you didn't agree to.
Permits and paperwork included
Demolition permits, utility disconnects, county and state notices, FWC coordination — handled as part of the scope, not billed as extras.
One-stop site work — same crew handles the next step.
